| Welcome to... Heart 2 Hearts  Hi! Thanks for visitng Heart 2 Hearts! My name is Gabrielle Gimber and recently I had back surgery to correct my scoliosis. After my surgery I was given a squishy heart shaped pillow from a girl named McKenna Keyes. Mckenna also had scoliosis and had the same surgery as I had two years prior to mine. She received a pillow as a gift before her hospital stay, and found it so comforting that she started gving them out to other scoliosis patients. After McKenna left for college, I decided to continue her work and provide Pink Heart Shaped Pillows, information, and emotinal support to teenage girls like me who are getting ready for spinal surgery. It seems like a pillow is a simple thing, but it was so comforting to me. The heart shape reminded me that I was not alone and that others cared about what I was going through. It not only provided me physical comfort, but emotional support as well. In fact, I still sleep with it today!! So now a little bit about me...On May 17th, 2010 when I was 14 years old, I underwent spinal fusion. I had a 60 degree right thoracic curve which was only getting worse. Surgery was scary, but the thought of disfigurement and a life filled with back pain was scarier. I spent six days in the hospital, and although it was probably the hardest thing I have ever been through, I made it and am now stronger than ever! I wanted to make a difference and to remind each of you going through what I did that you are not alone and that I am here to support you.
